The table surface adjusts to any working angle, sitting flat or tilting up to suit whatever the project demands — drawing, painting, or digital work. A full-length piano hinge runs the width of the table, giving it both strength and the ability to fold completely flat, ready to become a larger crafting surface whenever the time comes. Two chunky knobs secure the table angle easily when raised, the back can store paper and other supplies.

The build was straightforward by design: maple for the structure, Formica for a smooth, durable working surface, and a piano hinge chosen specifically for its length and strength across the full fold. The most challenging part was embedding the half-lapped X's on each of the main legs using a router and chisels, and then building the tabletop angle mechanism. Both took longer than expected, but the outcome was truly delightful.
The decision to leave the maple unfinished was deliberate — this is a table meant to be used hard, and a raw surface will tell that story honestly over time. The flat-fold feature wasn't an afterthought either; it's a built-in future upgrade, ready to expand into a larger crafting table whenever the artist outgrows what she has now.
